From Silk Stocking ranches to Fulton Ranch tile: Chandler's roofs by era

Downtown's Silk Stocking neighborhood holds some of the oldest houses in Chandler. In April 2024 the City Council put a historic preservation overlay on 23 properties along Washington and Coronado streets, mostly Early Ranch homes with Craftsman and Spanish Colonial Revival examples mixed in. Owners in the overlay follow the city's historic preservation ordinance and its design guidelines for maintenance, repair and rehabilitation.

Monsoon storms reach Chandler with wind first and rain right behind it.
